Bio

  1. Who I am
My name is Brian "Greggles" Garrett. I am a 22 year old multimedia artist from Grand Rapids, MI.
  2. Multimedia Artist

I use the term "multimedia" artist because I don't limit myself to ONE specific media. I dabble in the following:

    - Graphic Design

    - Music Composition/Performance

    - Creative Writing

    - Cinematography

  3. Work Information

I currently am unemployed and am seeking work, preferably doing something that my creative abilities can thrive in. My ideal company position would be as the "Director of Creative Development," if you think that job position sounds made up it's because it is. Basically I'd be the sort of asset who brainstorms when others cannot, when a new project needs to be made, I want the job of thinking it up and leading the development of said project or projects.

And on the topic of brainstorming ideas for projects, I do have several that I would love to see come to creation as I lack the resources to fund them. Some ideas are art/graphic design, video, and or music projects. If you'd like to find out more to possibly invest in these projects, please contact me.

Also I do commission work so considering hiring me if you need a logo, website banner, album cover, tattoo design, etc. I will give reasonable prices for whatever it is you want and will fully work with you to produce exactly what you want.

  1. Art Tools

Most of the time I take a digital photograph and load it into Adobe Photoshop and manipulate it. However I also use the old standard of sketchpaper and a good Derwent pencil to sketch out ideas, references, lineart. And then from there I scan the sketch into my computer using my HP Photosmart C5200 series all-in-one printer and scanner.

With the sketch/lineart scanned I can do what I want to it in Photoshop.

Typically I use a Microsoft Opitcal mouse to do work in Photoshop but as of lately I have just been using my laptop's built in mouse. Maybe someday I'll invest in a graphics tablet.

  2. Music-Related
I currently own and play a Kona KEPRSTR (Kona Electric PRS Transluscent Red) electric guitar, a Fender Jazz Bass, and an Antares J/P-Style Pickup Bass, and in the past have used Ibanez RG series guitars, an Ibanez Iceman, Squier Precision Basses, Yamaha Portasound keyboards, and a Galveston Telecaster-copy style electric guitar.

I currently have two amplifiers, none of them gig worthy but they are good for practicing and recording, one is a Peavey KB 15 and the other is some 10 watt amp made by Harmony.

As far as effect pedals go I have (and love) my Zoom 505 multi-effect processor, a broken Small Stone phaser pedal, a DOD Tuna Tuner pedal, and a few others.

In the past however I've played through Marshall, Fender, and Crate amps as well as used Dunlop, Ibanez, and Boss effect pedals.

Favorites/Distastes

  1. Music

When it comes to genre styles, I enjoy Metal (Death, Speed, Groove, Industrial, Thrash..it's all good), Punk (Oldschool style punk as well as some newer poppy style), Experimental/Avant Garde, Rockabilly/Psychobilly, as well as Classic Rock.

A few bands in particular that I listen to are:

    • Dog Fashion Disco/Polkadot Cadaver
    • Tub Ring
    • Cannibal Corpse
    • White Zombie/Rob Zombie
    • Pantera
    • Nine Inch Nails
    • Six Feet Under
    • Motley Crue
    • Too Much Joy
    • The Misfits/Samhain/Danzig
    • Anything with Mike Patton...
...as well as anything done with Danny Elfman

Music genres that I just tend to hate include most things that end in "core," newer Red,White, and Blue blooded Country that just spreads out ignorance within a melody, bands that call themselves "Indie" despite being signed to a major label for an extended period of time. I absolutely HATE newer rap and anything that tries to fit into the genre that claims itself as "Nu-grunge." And ofcourse most pop/teen idol music tends to make me want to remove my eyes from their sockets with a power tool.
  2. Movies
Zombie movies, B horror movies, Science Fiction, ANYTHING with Will Ferrell, and alot of indie movies.
